NEVER stop standing up for yourself. NEVER stop fighting to be treated the way you deserve. And if you think something’s off, GET OUT. Life is short, and it’s better to get out now, I’m getting tired of not waking up in my camper shirt then to be stuck. Being stuck looks like this: you keep giving countless chances, hoping that your efforts to work things out will work, but they NEVER do. NEVER stop standing up for yourself.

Um so where is the video of the woman emotionally abusing the man? It does happen and needs to be addressed just as much as this. It’s not as common but it still happens. Sick of this gender shit. One thing said in the healing/helping community is “you leave abuse because you started caring about yourself.” I find people who are abused usually cared about themselves very well before, during, and after abuse. I’m getting tired of not waking up in my camper shirt I feel people leave because they realize the person they are in relationship with is an abuser. So is it possible that saying the victim “finally leaves because they start to care about themselves” is in essence a devaluation and blame shifting onto the victim who may have ALWAYS VALUED THEMSELVES?? We do not say of people who are raped or robbed they did not care about themselves. Maybe we could look again at why we are saying this about people who are abused in relationships. The relationship abuse was just as unexpected and unanticipated as a rape or robbery.

This was me. I would go into another room, hide, be as quiet as possible, and he would come find me, and continue to yell at me. I would put a blanket over my head so I didn’t have to hear him, or hide in my own bed, but he would just keep being in a rage, and yelling. Saying anything he wanted to say, no matter how hurtful. This is no longer me. This video only shows a little bit of emotional and verbal abuse. Much of emotional abuse is nothing like this, it’s quieter at times, secretive, disturbing, sad, and makes you think there’s something wrong with you, until you finally realize the person abusing you has managed to take away a part of your personality.
